Glory lies in the attempt to reach one's goal and not in reaching it. Mahatma Gandhi --

Have you ever been in Costco, or just grocery shopping, on New Years day? The produce department is a crazy mess! Everyone is on a diet and buying their new supply of food while still on a food hangover from the night before. I felt like I was one of the lemmings joining the diet ban wagon as I was filling up my grocery cart with healthy goodness last year.
Like everyone I do have a hard time following through with some things, a huge flaw of mine. But I would like to report that I did finish a few New Years resolutions from 2012. Like a true American I had the goal of being healthy, I didn't reach my ideal weight but I exercised regularly and had a healthy diet. I de-junked my life (this was because we moved to Nebraska and back to SLC ;)) I also completed the "give a homemade gift to all of my sisters for the birthdays" resolution. Granted I did give Carlie's birthday gift about 6 months late, and I gave a gift to my mother to give to Michelle when I was visiting my her. I am pretty sure Michelle never got her awesome scarf. But I did it. I also became certified as a water aerobics instructor. As for the rest of my New Years resolutions DUN DUN NA NA  I don't know because I probably made a list on a piece of paper then lost it. I just remember that these three, and many more, were on the original list.
So in the spirit of goal making, resolution completing and general improvements, I submit to you my list of 2014 resolutions. I do this for a few reasons; to keep a copy of my resolutions, if I am more public with my resolutions then I'll be more likely to complete them, and because it is fun. I do want to mention that I am not writing all of my resolutions because some are more personal and well some are just none of your beeswax just kidding.
    1. Of course get fit
    2. Teach a water aerobics class
    3. Get certified in spin
    4. Compete in 2 swim meets
    5. run 2 5Ks
    6. 1 triathlon
    7. I can make very few things but I want to try to sell what I can make on Etsy
    8. Polar bear swim January 1st in Bountiful if anyone wants to come!
    9. READ!!! join the book club with my neighbors
   10. Make a homemade gift for my sisters birthdays on time
   11. Read the BOM by March
   12. Blog more.
   13. Plan more interesting and fun activities for Brooklyn
   14. Take more pictures of my family and events
   15. Learn more skills ("nun chuck skills, secret service captain or whatever") quilting, knitting etc.
   16. Donate handmade quilts etc at family reunions
   17. Be apart of a flash mob!
   18. Make 72 hour kits

So there you have it folks a few of my resolutions for 2014. I reserve the right to add to this list throughout the year by the way so feel free to check back frequently. If any of you out there are like me and enjoy making a list of resolutions, I found this great app for my iPhone. It is called "your trainer". It was the second or third FREE app that I tried and it's the best. You can write down your goals, the next steps that you need to take and it allows you to choose a  deadline, and list your goals according to priority. Also I have set my calendar on my phone to remind me when some are due to just to remind me to do it. If anyone has an other suggestions of goal completion, any cool or fun goal ideas or wants to do the polar bear swim with me or any comments please feel free to comment.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

New New Years tradition anyone?

Have any of you heard of a polar bear swim? It is a New Years tradition that started in the 1920's. It is just a group of crazies jumping into freezing cold water. And guess what.... yup I am doing a polar bear plunge this New Years day in Bountiful.
Why would I do such a thing you ask? Well, when I got the invite from a friend on Facebook I thought what a better way to start 2014! Yes it does sound cold, uncomfortable...actually down right miserable. It also sounds exciting, exhilarating, and in a weird way... fun!
If you're brave or crazy enough please join me! https://m.facebook.com/2014BountifulPolarPlunge

HALF WAY BABY!

                                  Half way done!!!!

On September 12, 2012 I wrote on this blog that we had one month of law school down. Now we are half way done! I can't believe how fast time goes by when you're having fun ;). I don't think Aaron would agree that law school is fun but he does think the subjects are interesting. He says that time goes faster for him because it is always a countdown to finals and feels like there is never enough time to fully prepare. For those of you who don't know, law school consists of one final exam that counts for 100% of your grade. You're also competing with other very intelegent students for the grade.
Not only has he worked so hard in school he also worked part time at the D.A.'s office. Everything Aaron does is for our family and I am so proud of him! Thank you to everyone that has helped us during the last year and a half. We couldn't have done it without you! I am so excited to spend a couple of weeks as a normal family over Christmas break.

                     Fun Weekend in Ogden

I had decided to give Aaron a couple of days to work on his paper. He usually has Brooklyn for a couple of days when I work in Ogden so he doesn't get much time to work on it during the week. This was a perfect time to visit my family in Ogden.
We went swimming with Brooklyn's cousins. Brooklyn wore some arm floaties for the first time and loved them. She still needs some help keeping her balance but I think she had more fun with those than with me holding onto her.
We then went to a Raptors Baseball game in Ogden. I was planning on leaving early because I didn't expect Brooklyn to last very long. I was very wrong. She had a blast! She made friends, clapped when the Raptors made a home run, met new friends, and had a dance party with her cousin McKayla.

I love going to baseball games in the summer! I love sitting in the shade with family, eating very expensive nachos and relaxing.

By the end of the game Brooklyn was good friends with our neighboring baseball fan. I love my friendly baby!

McKayla said that we were friends and that we needed to have a "party just for girls where we can paint our toenails, watch princess movies and dance."

Bad to the bone baby!

This summer we have been in Utah for an internship for Aaron at the Salt Lake DA's office. I was able to pick up some shifts at the hospital I used to work at in Ogden. Both employers from Ne and Ut have needed me to do some education modules from home, my ward wanted me to keep my calling as the visiting teaching coordinator. All of which have required me to do some work from a home computer..... until 3 days ago I didn't have one. My wonderful hubby saw the need and I woke up at 3:45 (to go to work) to a text saying that while I had gone to bed early the night before, he had purchased a computer for me, transferred over all of my pictures from my phone, and set it up for me. Super sweet huh!?
I was super excited to sit down and play with my new toy. So I looked up the old blog, go ahead look at the last post date. OCTOBER 2012 PEOPLE! I am not saying that my life is super exciting but hey, I can say that at least something new has happened (refer to previous paragraph:)). My lil' sister Carlie has rededicated herself to her blog (which I will read right after I post I promise Car) and I guess I got bit by the  blog bug again.
So I guess since it had been MONTHS since my last post I will do a quick recap. uh hum (clearing throat) My hubby finished his first year of law school. He had gotten onto Law Review and landed a cushy internship at the DA's office. Aaron really likes it there and they are very impressed with his work. It has been a nice break from law school but we are both still working hard. Aaron is required to work on some papers during the summer because of Law Review and we are both working full time. Luckily we have been able to squeeze some fun family time into our busy schedules.

We were able to go to Wheeler Farm in Murray. Brooklyn loved the different animals.
We had a great 4th of July. We were in the Murray parade because Aaron's dad is running for mayor. GO WILDE!
April and me at the parade. Aaron is in the background driving the Jeep with our good friend Chops.
NOTE TO SELF...TAKE MORE PICTURES! Hey April I know you took a billion pictures at the parade, if there are any of Aaron, Brooklyn and me could you send them to me? PS I hope you don't think it's weird that there is a picture of you an Tony on my blog.

Other things that we have done this summer include; swimming, hiking, going to the park, fireworks, parades, going on walks, staying at Snowbird with the Wilde family, birthday parties, and BBQs.
