Just another day in Omaha

Just a quick update. Aaron is studying hard, he says he is going to need a doughnut pillow because he is always sitting. I am liking my job as a L&D nurse. There are a lot of things to learn. It is nice working in a positive environment where the patients are relatively happy, especially after their epidurals. Brooklyn is making new friends everyday. There are a few little boys  who always are asking their parents about Brooklyn. Today the Bishop's wife said that her son Will keeps asking her when they can watch her again. Every time I see this little guy he comes running up to Brooklyn and tries to make her laugh. Max is doing well. I try to take him for lots of walks. There is a family here who loves Max. There are many families here that love Max, but on in particular who wants a Golden Retriever.  The mother of the family, Chalese, asked if she could take Max on walks while I was at work so Max wouldn't get lonely.

Omaha has a few fun things to do. I have asked some girls from work to make a list of must see things. There are lots of shopping areas, tons of restaurants, a zoo, children's museum, and botanical gardens. I want Brooklyn to do something interesting or fun everyday that I have off. We try to do something in the mornings because it is cooler. We went to the lauritzen gardens the other day.

The botanical gardens is just down the street from our place. It is within walking distance and lots of the mothers who live here go in the mornings when it is cool. Village Green sold the land for the gardens at a great price in return for free passes for it's members. It promptly closes at 5 and they have been known to lock people inside if they are not out before 5pm. My friend and I went on Thursday at 4:15. We sped walked the whole time we were there in fear of camping out for the night. We were able to get to the model train area. It is hard for me to take pictures of Brooklyn outside of her stroller, It is hard to hold the camera, hold her, make sure she doesn't grab the camera and take the picture. I am hoping to go again soon and will post more pictures. I just aimed my phone at Brooklyn and started snapping while the train went by. I wanted to get a few of her looking at the train and one of her face.

This is just another picture I took today, Brooklyn and I were bored so we went outside to swing. Lucky for us the playground is right outside our place. This will come in handy when Brooklyn gets a little bigger and play on the playground too. I also took this picture because she was wearing a cute outfit, I am not sure if you can see it very well.
More pictures to come! Love you guys and miss you!

One month of law school down

Howdy all,
Well, Aaron has finished one month of law school. He only has two more for this semester. Yippeee!  He is working very hard and is very dedicated to his studies. The students get called on during class to explain the cases that they had read, or were supposed to read, in front of the class. Aaron got called on today and felt like he explained it very well, much better than the other students have thus far in the semester. He was able to recall dates and specific examples. He is excited that his hard work is starting to pay off.
I worked four 12 hour shifts in a row last week. BLAH!!!! The nurse I am orienting with is super nice and is understanding how much teaching she has to do with me. I called my smarty-pants sister Janelle for extra help with the topics I still didn't understand. For those who don't know, my smarty-pants sister and mom have L&D experience. It's nice to be able to call them up with additional questions. Well, it's nice for me if it is not annoying to them yet I have a feeling it will be. Thanks guys for all of your help! ;)
The other day at work I was trying to read fetal heart tones and I hear a woman belch right behind me. It was a Barney Rubble belch. It was almost as if she had done it in my ear. I am guessing it was some kind of hazing technique. It was gross! Then I met her. She said she had a chronic belching condition.... is there such a thing or is she just saying that? I don't know her well enough to know if she was being sarcastic. I don't know if I'll get used to it, this happened about 3 times in a 12 hour shift.
Brooklyn is getting so big. She has been crawling for awhile now. It started off as just rolling around then army style now she is full on crawling. She is super fast now and getting faster everyday. She also has four teeth! Everyday I notice something new with her. Today, for example, I noticed that she is making new noises. She now has a new whine that sounds like a puppy.
We have been lucky enough to find a wonderful babysitter for Brooklyn while I am at work and Aaron is in class. Her name is Sara and she is a lifesaver! She has a cute little boy and is baby hungry for a little girl. When I pick Brooklyn up she usually has a new hair bow that Sara had made for her that day. She is making her a dress now and Brooklyn will probably be wearing it when I pick her up on Friday.
We have an annual pass to the zoo and Brooklyn loves to go. Her favorite is the aquarium because the fish are close and are at eye level so she can see easily. It is fun to be able to do fun things with Brooklyn on the days I have off. She is a smartypants and is very observant if the animals are too far she likes to people watch just as much.

Aaron says that she looks like Peggy Bundy in these pants. You can't see how well her little jacket matches her pants. My friend from the IMC trauma floor gave this outfit to her. I think she looks cute!

Max is the belle of the ball here in Village Green (the townhouse complex where we live). Every time I take Max for a walk he is instantly surrounded by kids. After I leave the house and turn around to shut the door I hear "doggy!!" and swarms of kids are around Max petting him. Max loves attention but I think he gets overwhelmed with tons of little kids swarming him, especially when he has to go potty. He is doing well though, I think he was having a hard time not having his personal toilet/backyard but he is otherwise adjusting well.
Well its late, I have a feeling that it is going to be a long night with Brooklyn. She usually sleeps through the night very well but the lightning storm has woken her up already a couple of times. I should get some shut eye  before she wakes up again.  Good night!
